Operating a cupola furnace arrangement (100) comprises cleaning blast furnace gas from the furnace coarsely of dust using a cyclone (2); burning the gas from the cyclone in a first burner (3) and using the cooled waste gas from the burner in a heat exchanger (6) for pre-heating the wind blown into the cupola furnace. The wind produced from the heat exchanger is additionally heated before introducing into the furnace. An Independent claim is also included for a cupola furnace arrangement. Preferred Features: The wind is heated to at least 750, preferably at least 800 deg C before blowing into the furnace.
