The conveyor, made from a continuous smooth belt (1) or strips, is supported by horizontal rollers (2) between centering members (3) on a frame (9, 10, 11). The sides of the belt which project beyond the rollers are supported by outer lateral plastic or stainless steel guides (4) to give it a U-shaped cross-section, and a guide (8) for the transported material running the whole length of the belt is mounted on a support (7) fixed to the lateral guides (4). An optional sealing cover (6) can be fitted over the conveyor.
