PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that the amount of reproducing data increases and an alternate recording and reproducing operation cannot be performed in the case of variable speed reproducing operation in the case of using an optical disk and performing following reproduction. SOLUTION: This device temporarily stops reading a buffer memory 2 and continues a reproduction operation and performs a variable speed reproduction operation. When the quantity of the buffer memory surpasses certain fixed quantity, the device interrupts the variable speed operation and returns to a recording reproduction alternate operation.
