<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device having high reliability and high display quality by preventing application of a DC voltage on the liquid crystal layer of the liquid crystal device and by shielding the channel of a thin film transistor against light. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is equipped with thin film transistors connected to a plurality of scanning lines 806 and a plurality of signal lines 809 and with pixel electrodes 808 connected to the thin film transistors. The channel length of the channel region 802 between the source region 804 and the drain region 803 of the thin film transistor is larger than the width of the gate electrode of the thin film transistor. A conductive electrode 816 arranged on the gate electrode is formed to overlap a part of the source region 804 and the drain region 803 to cover the gate electrode and the channel region 802.</p> |
