PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation in the display characteristics. SOLUTION: Each pixel 3(r), 3(g), 3(b) of a liquid crystal panel is a square, and a protrusion 6 is formed along the each pixel 3(r), 3(g), 3(b). The directionθof the rubbing treatment (inclination angle of the rubbing direction M based on the side with length x) is controlled to satisfy tanθ<=y/x. Thereby, uniform alignment treatment is performed in one pixel, and degradation the display characteristics caused by irregular display can be prevented.
