摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system in which packet sizes can be changed with no instantaneous break and without generating packet loss. SOLUTION: An OLT 30 and the 1st to the N-th ONUs 311 to 31N, that are subjected to one-to-plurality connection by TDMA control perform packet communication, and synchronization is established in each of the frame counters. The OLT 30 sets a maximum packet transfer size 50 in an OSU control part 38 at a 1st frame, and the size 50 is broadcasted simultaneously to each of the ONUs with a set completion signal 51 as a trigger at a 2nd frame. In the M-th (where M is a natural number >=1 and <=N) ONU 31M, a received maximum packet transfer size 80M is set at an ONU control part 62M. In the frame counters 35 and 61M of the OLT 30 and the ONU 31M, the maximum packet transfer size is set in an fairness control part 37 and a packet transfer processing part 63M at the same timing, while synchronizing with set change signals 52 and 82M of the next 3rd frame generated with the set completion signals 51 and 81M as a trigger.
