PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boiler with which safety of working circumstances can be improved by providing a safety mechanism for coping with pressure rising, not only to the boiler main body but also around a feed water preheater for feeding preheated water to the boiler main body. SOLUTION: An energy saving type boiler comprises a feed water preheater 4 for preheating feed water, making use of exhaust heat of a burner 3 when feeding water to a boiler main body 2. To cope with the case where the pressure around the preheater 4, which is located this side of the main body 2, becomes not less than a given value, there is provided a safety mechanism to detect such a situation, such as an upper limit pressure switch 70 for reducing pressure, a safety valve 71 or the like.
