The core (2) in the barrel lock housing (3) bore is held locked by means of specifically circular section pin tumblers enclosing housing and core with pin bores (6,7) intercepting the core flat (5) in the join (4) between bore inwall and flat. When the parting plane (10) between housing and core pins (9) is shifted so the core lines up with the join (4). A strip (11) deflecting in the radial sense of the core bears on the segment flat (5) under spring load and as the core twists round so the strip (11) deflects under the load applied by edge (5a) of the flat (5). Strip and flat have pin bores (6,7) offset to the core radii and arranged in parallel rows. The endfaces of the tumblers (8a,9a) are rotation-symmetrically flat or concave.
