PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase rigidity of a coupling part and reduce suction of air to an oil pump when a transmission case 3 is coupled to one end face of a cylinder block and an oil pan is coupled to the under surface thereof, an oil gathering part is formed in the part, adjoining the transmission case, of the oil pan, and the lower part of the transmission case is coupled to the side plate on the transmission side of the oil gathering part. SOLUTION: A rib 6 extending axially of a crank shaft is integrally situated in an oil gathering part 5 such that the two side plates 5a and 5b of the oil reservoir part 5 are itercoupled. The oil gathering part 5 is partitioned into two chambers and the suction port of an oil sucking pipe 7 in the oil pan 4 is situated in one of the two chambers of the oil gathering part 5 partitioned by a rib 6.
