POLYOLEFIN STAPLE FIBER FOR THE PRODUCTION OF THERMALLY BONDED NONWOVEN WEB

Polypropylene biconstituent staple fibers for the production of nonwoven web by "thermal bonding", with improved properties of mechanical isotropy and softness, obtained from a polymer mixture substantially consisting of 85 - 99.9 % by weight of polypropylene homopolymer or of polypropylene copolymer of the type normally used for the production of thermally bondable fibers, and of 0.1 - 15 % by weight of polyethylene. The invention also concerns the thermally bonded nonwoven material obtained from the staple fibers, and laminate composite materials comprising a layer of such nonwoven web coupled to a polyolefin film.
