PURPOSE:To stop the rotating action of a rotary lid or the like in any desired position, impart a rotating torque not less than a predetermined value in the opposite direction to release the engagement of the lid so as to permit its rotation in the opposite direction and lighten its closing action. CONSTITUTION:A rotary damper 1 containing a first rotary shaft, a one-way clutch and a viscous liquid is provided near one end 31 of a rotary lid 3. Near the other end 32 of the rotary lid 3 is provided a both-way clutch 2 having a second rotary shaft so disposed as to hinder the rotation of the lid in one direction in the condition of being rotatable in the opposite direction and impart a rotating torque not less than a predetermined value in the opposite direction to permit the rotation of the lid in the opposite direction. The rotary lid 3 is supported by the first and second rotary shafts. |
