<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position sensor which does not cause wear. SOLUTION: This magnetic position sensor for sensing the position of a foot pedal in an automobile and producing an electric signal representative of the position of the foot pedal comprises a stator 7 with a channel 17 and a magnet 8 which can move along the surface of the stator. A magnetic field generated by the channel 17 in the stator changes depending on the position of the magnet 8 relative to the stator 7. The magnet is connected to the foot pedal and moves along the surface of the stator as the foot pedal moves, to change the magnetic field in the channel. The change in the magnetic field is sensed by a Hall probe 6 which produces a signal proportional to the movement of the magnet 8.</p> |
