A field frequency barrier system in an MRI system comprises magnets for producing a polarized magnetic field, and a gradient spool unit for producing magnetic field gradients. A micro spool is located outside the spool arrangement in the region where the polarization field is produced. A resonance probe is located on the microspool, and contains a material that emits a signal. A frequency comparator measures the frequency difference between the detected signal and a reference frequency.
