BASE ISOLATION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance as a base isolation device for building as an auxiliary base isolation body absorbs and damps small vibration. SOLUTION: A cylindrical base isolation body 5 is constituted of a cylindrical body sandwiched between an upper part structure 3 and a lower part structure 4 and allows relative displacement in the horizontal direction of the upper part structure 3 and the lower part structure 4. A main support 7 terminates at a position in the proximity of the lower part structure 4 by fixing one end on the upper part structure 3. A low friction material 9 is arranged at a postion to make contact with the lower part structure 4 of the main support 7 and makes contact with the lower part structure 4 in a low friction coefficient. It is constituted of an auxiliary base isolation body 8 sandwiched between this low friction material 9 and the other end of the main support 7. The auxiliary base isolation body 8 allows relative displacement in the horizontal direction of the upper part structure 3 and the lower part structure 4 when a horizontal load of less than a horizontal load to start sliding on a contact surface of the low friction material 9 and the lower part structure 4 is applied and also damps vibration.
