PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent inflow of leak gas to a slide part on the lower stage side and to perform excellent lubrication by a method wherein leak gas is discharged in a closed container through a spiral oil groove and a gas bleed hole. SOLUTION: A two-cylinder type two-stage compression type rotary compressor 10 comprises upper and lower cylinders 38 and 40 provided with an electric motor 14 situated at the inner upper part of a cylindrical closed container 12 having an oil reservoir formed in its bottom and a rotary compression mechanism 18 coupled to the crank shaft 16 of the electric motor for drive situated at a lower part and forming a compression chamber through an intermediate partition plate 36; upper and lower rollers 46 and 48 coupled to the upper and lower eccentric parts 42 and 44 of a crank shaft 16 in the respective cylinders; and compression elements 32 and 34 on the low and high stage sides containing upper and lower vanes 50 and 52 making contact with the respective rollers and partitioning the interior of the cylinders into high and low pressure chambers. Further, the opening surfaces of the upper and lower cylinders are closed by upper and lower support members 54 and 56 used additionally as the bearing part of the crank shaft 16, and spiral oil grooves 82 and 84 inclined in a direction in which oil flows in the intermediate partition plate 36 are formed in the upper and lower eccentric parts 42 and 44, and a gas bleed hole 86 is horizontally formed in the intermediate plate 36.
