PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polypeptide consisting of a secretory cell function- regulatory protein having a specific amino acid sequence, and usable in e.g. the diagnoses, treatments and prophylaxes of osteopathy/arthropathy and pathologic neovascularization, in screening compounds capable of regulating the activity of the new polypeptide. SOLUTION: This new polypeptide is a new secretory cell function-regulative protein consisting of a polypeptide (amide, ester, salt) containing an amino acid sequence identical or substantially identical with an amino acid sequence of the formula, the polypeptide or the corresponding DNA encoding the polypeptide being usable in e.g. the diagnoses, treatments and prophylaxes of osteopathy/arthropathy and pathologic neovasucularization, and also useful as e.g. a reagent for screening compounds capable of promoting or ihibiting the activity of this polypeptide. This polypeptide is obtained by the following procedure: using human fetal brain-derived poly(A)+RNA, 5'RACE (rapid amplification of cDNA end) and 3'RACE are conducted to effect cloning, the resultant gene is integrated into a vector and then expressed in host cells. |
