A clutch/brake (13) associated with an automatic gearbox (11) is hydraulically operated by a control equipment (25) which consists of a valve (27) which either delivers oil from a pressure regulator (29) or vents it to a tank (31). A transmission computer (41) which is in communication with a motor control computer (43) controls an oscillation between these two positions and also the oil pressure. Independent claims are made for a transmission assembly, propulsion chain and vehicle which use the control equipment. An Independent claim is also made for the methods of operating the control equipment.
