PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make forward thrust and backward thrust equivalent by using a plunger (rod). SOLUTION: In an air cylinder 11, a through hole 13, a first cylinder hole 18A, and a second cylinder hole 18B are formed in a cylinder body 12 mutually in parallel. The first cylinder hole 18A has an opening at one end of the cylinder body 12 and the second cylinder hole 18B has an opening at the other end of the cylinder body 12. Gas bearings 14, 19A, and 19B are arranged on the inner surfaces of the through hole 13, the first cylinder hole 18A, and the second cylinder hole 18B, respectively. A linear motion rod 15 is supported in non- contact condition only with the gas bearing 14 of the through hole 13 while a first plunger 20A and a plunger 20B are supported in non-contact condition only with the gas bearings 19A and 19B of the first cylinder hole 18B and second cylinder hole 18B, respectively.
