PURPOSE: A set top box system capable of transmitting autograph e-mail is provided to connect a touch pad to make a user directly write a message instead of typing through a key board, and to transmit the written message. CONSTITUTION: If a user desires to transmit e-mail while viewing a service from a server(10) through a TV(30), the user inputs an e-mail transmission mode key through a key input unit(40). The user produces a message with characters or pictures by using a touch pad(41) of the key input unit(40). A touch pad(41) generates a coordinate signal corresponding to characters of the user. A coordinate signal receiver(21) of the set top box(20) receives the coordinate signal from the touch pad(41), and outputs the coordinate signal to a controller(22). The controller(22) collects coordinate signals inputted from the coordinate signal receiver(21). The controller(22) outputs the collected coordinate signals to a vector converter(23). The vector converter(23) converts the coordinate signals inputted from the controller(22) into vector values. The converted vector values are outputted to the controller(22). The controller(22) outputs the vector values to a storage unit(24) for storing. The controller(22) decides whether a transmission confirming key is inputted from the user. If the transmission confirming key is inputted from the user, the vector values are stored in file. The e-mail stored in file is transmitted.
