The retro-endoscope has a flexible device for inserting an observation tip. to an observation point and for transporting image data from the tip to the observer. The observation tip contains an imaging system for forming an image of an angular region of the semi-volume in front of the tip and a mirror optical arrangement (5) within the region in front of the tip for forming an image of the rear semi-volume.
