A grinding and classifying method wherein an air flow is passed from a grinding zone (2) surrounded by a cylindrical inner peripheral surface into a classifying zone (8) surrounded by a frusto-conical inner peripheral surface while a raw material charged into the grinding zone (2) collides against a stirring and grinding blade (12) and ground as it is stirred by a centrifuga l air flow produced by the stirring and grinding blade (12), so that the resulting particles, as they are fined, are successively carried on spiral a ir flow to the classifying zone (8), where as particles which are still coarse are returned to the grinding zone (2) along the slope of the inner periphera l surface by a centrifugal air flow produced by the rotation of the stirring a nd classifying blade (14), whereby only the particles which have been reduced t o a predetermined particle size or less are carried on spiral air flow and tak en out of the classifying zone (8); thus particles of desired particle size are obtained in a short time.
