PURPOSE: A self-cleaning type bladder drainage device is provided to allow a patient to urinate whenever he/she wants, to eliminate the need for a walking patient to wear a leg sack to collect urine and reduce infection. CONSTITUTION: The self-cleaning type bladder drainage device(10) comprises a flexible slender drainage member(12) cooperating with the urethra so as to drain urine through between the outer surface and the urethral wall. The flexible slender drainage member has a front end(14) and a rear end(16) whose outside diameter can pass through the urethra, and an open fluid drainage groove(20) at least in a part of the outer surface. To hold the drainage member in a prescribed position inside the urethra, a bladder holding member(22) is provided near the rear end of the drainage member. The holding member is usually spirally bent and engages with the bladder neck for preventing the drainage device from coming off. When removing it, however, by pulling the drainage device, it is straightened along the urethra and comes off. When wearing, by inserting a stylet into the lumen, it is straightened. A means to prevent the drainage member from getting moved longitudinally against the urethral wall is provided in the drainage member. |
