PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize a lowering of mechanical strength of components and influence on paper feeding as the adverse effect of providing a detecting means for detecting the presence of paper in a paper feeding cassette. SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with a device body 1 and a paper feeding cassette mounted to the device body 1 and provided with an automatic feeding paper storage part 12 for storing paper in the stacked state and a manual insertion feed part 13 for placing paper. The device body 1 is provided with a detecting lever 51 acting in accordance with the presence of paper at the manual insertion feed part 13, and a sensor 55 for detecting the presence of paper in response to the action of the detecting lever 51. The paper feeding cassette is provided with a detecting lever 61 acting in accordance with the presence of paper at the automatic feeding paper storage part 12, and the detecting lever 61 for automatic feeding puts the detecting lever 51 for manual insertion feeding in action, following the action in the mounted state of the paper feeding cassette to the device body 1.
