PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a solid powder cosmetic to be obtained in a soft and light touch, hardly liable to cause caking, having excellent shape retention safely at a low cost. SOLUTION: This method for producing a solid powder cosmetic comprises compression-molding a mixture of powder and fine ice and then removing the ice from the compression-molded product to form voids in the inside of the compression-molded product. In this method, a frozen material of an aqueous solution of saccharide, a frozen material of an aqueous solution of water-soluble polymer substance or a frozen substance of water-absorbing polymer substance having absorbed water can be used as the ice. Powder containing hydrophobic powder is preferably used as the powder. The removal of the ice is preferably carried out by freeze drying.
