MULTI TYPE AIR CONDITIONER AND CONTROLLING METHOD FOR OPERATION THEREOF

PURPOSE: A multi typed air conditioner and a controlling method thereof are provided to improve operation efficiency through controlling opening degree of an expansion valve and RPM(revolution per minute) of a compressor. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner comprises a temperature establish unit(65) establishing target cooling temperatures for indoor units; a compressor having a compressing unit and an electric motor unit(73); a temperature detect unit(63) detecting indoor and outdoor temperatures; a load amount calculate unit(67) detecting reference cooling capacity of indoor units, a difference between detected and established temperatures, entire load amount of the compressor, and rotational frequency of the motor unit; and a control unit(61) controlling RPM of the motor unit based on the rotational frequency. Thus, compressing capacity of refrigerant and opening degree of electronic expansion valves in the indoor units are varied in response to compressive load amount.
