PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a detector and a detecting apparatus, for residual magnetism, in which the residual magnetism generated on the surface of a building structure can be detected simply and in which its distribution state can be displayed quickly. SOLUTION: In this residual-magnetism detector 1, a concentric detecting coil 2 is provided, and an expansion and contraction body 3 which supports the coil and which moves the detecting coil 2 to the axial direction is provided. The expansion and contraction body 3 is connected to the detecting coil. Residual magnetism 7 is expressed as an induce voltage. The polarity and the intensity of the residual magnetism are detected by the induced voltage which is induced in the detecting coil 2. In addition, this residual-magnetism detecting apparatus in which a plurality of concentric detecting coils 2 are arranged in a matrix shape is constituted in such a way that the residual magnetism of a building structure plane 4 is expressed as the distribution state of an induced voltage in a matrix shape. The induced voltage which is distributed and displayed in a matrix shape is displayed or recorded by a storage device, and the distribution state of the residual magnetism can be confirmed visually.
