PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress core loss by arranging heat producing parts, such as resistors, inside a circuit under the core of a transformer, such that heat produced by those parts controlles the temperatures so that the core loss of the transformer is made small. SOLUTION: Heating elements, such as chip resistors 20 on a power supply board 30, are located under a transformer 10. During the operation of a power supply, heat produced by the resistors 20 causes the temperature of the transformer 10 above the resistors 20 to rise. The transformer 10 is controlled to operate at a temperature range near 60 to 100 deg.C at which the transformer 10 operate with less core loss. Thus, the resulting reduction in the core loss of the transformer 10 leads to an increase in the efficiency of the power supply as a whole.
