PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device whose development period is reduced and whose cost is decreased by adopting the configuration for signal processing after A/D conversion so as to cope with a plurality of word lengths for the A/D conversion. SOLUTION: A delay means 104 converts (1st conversion) data with a bit word length X (digital signal) from a conversion means 103 into data with a bit word length Y (Y>X) for a signal processing means 105 to provide a prescribed delay to the data and applies inverse conversion to the 1st conversion (2nd conversion) to the data after they are delayed, adds bit information in number of bits (Y-X) to the data after the 2nd conversion and gives the resulting data to the signal processing means 105.
