PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating position sensor capable of preventing its use with an unstable output by comprising a self-diagnosis function capable of detecting the abnormality of an output signal even when a resistance value of a resistor is fluctuated by the abrasion of the resistor of a resistor base when a rotating position sensor is used for a long period. SOLUTION: A first resisting pattern 18, a second resisting pattern 23, a first output pattern 28 and a second output pattern 30 are arranged on a film- shaped resistor base 17 approximately in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the resistor base 17, and a rotor 32 is provided with a first brush 33 slidably contacted with the first resisting pattern 18 and the first output pattern 28, and a second brush 36 slidably contacted with the second resisting pattern 23 and the second output pattern 30.
