PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus capable of realizing an intermediate transfer recording system, reduction of size and weight and energy conservation for performing image formation of both surfaces of a recording medium by improving a transfer efficiency, enhancing a resolution of an image on the medium after transferring, and preventing bleeding and offset and provide an ink jet recording method and apparatus employing the intermediate transfer system that contributes to environmental conservation by effective use of paper resources. SOLUTION: Images 17, 18 and 19 are formed by injecting a liquid to a material 12 given to a surface of an intermediate transfer 13 in response to an image signal. Then, the method for recording by transferring the image 17, 18 and 19 onto a recording medium A comprises a coating step of sequentially coating a surface of the transfer 13 from an upstream position of the transfer to a downstream position of the transfer with the material 12, an image forming step of giving the liquid onto the material 12, and a transfer step of transferring the image 17, 18 and 19 in such a manner that all the steps are executed in the same plane of the transfer 13. |
