PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detoxicate wastes in a method entirely different from a conventional method. SOLUTION: This detoxification apparatus is composed of a horizontal type furnace body 1, a transportation part 2 for transporting wastes put in the furnace body 1 in the longitudinal direction of the furnace body 1, a burner 3 installed in the furnace body 1 for heating the wastes during the transportation, containers 51-56 for recovering low temperature melted substances obtained by melting the constituent substances of the wastes, a plasma arc generation part 4 for completely melting the wastes after heating by heat generated by multi arc plasma M1, M2, a crucible 5 for recovering high temperature melted substances obtained by completely melting the wastes, and a pipeline 60 for leading the gases generated during the heating of the wastes to the plasma arc generation part 4 in order to detoxicate the gases by the multi arc plasma M1, M2.
