PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a member surface at a high degree of hydrophilicity for a long period of time by forming a surface layer containing photocatalyst oxide particles having an average crystallite size existing in a specific length region on a base material surface. SOLUTION: This tile is constituted by forming the surface layer which contains the photocatalyst oxide particles having the average crystallite size of <800 nm, more preferably <=300 nm and exhibits the hydrophilicity according to photoexcitation of the photocatalyst oxide on the base material surface. The film thickness of the surface layer is preferably confined to <=200 nm particularly when the base material is transparent. The photocatalyst oxide is desirably anatase type titanium oxide, rutile type titanium oxide, tin oxide, or the like. A light source used for the photoexcitation of the photocatalyst oxide is, for example, a fluorescent lamp, incandescent electric lamp, metal halide lamp, the sun, or the like. The surface of the tile eventually exhibits the hydrophilicity every time the tile is irradiated with the light to excite the photocatalyst and, therefore, the characteristics, such as easy washability by water washing and rainfall, may be exhibited for a long period of time. |
