PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately and stably produce an embossing tape wherein the partition wall between housing recessed parts is narrow by a pitch transfer molding system using a flat plate mold. SOLUTION: In a method for producing an embossing tape wherein housed recessed parts are formed to a strip-like sheet in the longitudinal direction thereof at an equal interval by thermoforming, the strip-like sheet is held over one pitch range corresponding to the total length of a mold by one set of upper and lower hot platens 12 and transferred into the opened mold at every one pitch while heated and, after one set of the upper and lower hot platens 12 are opened to allow the strip-like sheet to retreat to the outside of the mold, the mold is closed and pressure is applied to the heated strip-like sheet to form the housing recessed parts. In an apparatus for producing the embossing tape, the hot platens hold the strip-like sheet over one pitch range thereof in a mold predetermined process and, after the strip-like sheet is transferred into the opened mold at every one pitch while heated, it is allowed to retreat to the outside of the mold and the mold is closed to form the housing recessed parts to the strip-like sheet while pressure is applied to the strip-like sheet and, during this period, the hot platens return to the position of the mold pre-process.
