System and method for marking of audio data

Audio data is marked in a manner that is inaudible to the human auditory system by indexing into spectral representations of the data. The indexing identifies spectral components whose magnitudes are redistributed in a manner that binarily encodes or otherwise inserts marking information into the audio information.
