PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide connection of an optical isolator part in alignment which will not change by a method, by arranging the optical isolator in a groove dividing an optical fiber of a maximum mode field diameter into sections, formed in a ferrule for accommodating a plurality of optical fibers of different mode field diameter. SOLUTION: A single-mode fiber 4a of mode field diameter of, for example, 10μm, a ball lens, a core enlarging fiber of mode field diameter of 40μm, other ball lens, and other single-mode fibers 4b are sequentially inserted into a ferrule 3 and fixed. Additionally, a spacer is inserted between two signal-mode fibers and two ball lens, and between the two ball lens and a core-enlarging fiber. A groove 7 is formed at substantially the center of a thus-structured fiber stub, and after polarizers 19a, 19b and a Faraday rotor 20 are formed integrally, an optical isolator 2 manufactured by cutting it out is inserted into this groove 7, and is fixed with adhesives.
