PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for cooling a CPU is provided to effectively cool a temperature in the case that the CPU is operated as a high output mode and the temperature rises sharply by utilizing a thermocouple module. CONSTITUTION: A temperature sensor(10) detects a temperature of a CPU. A heating control unit(20) receives the temperature of the CPU detected in the temperature sensor(10) and judges whether the received temperature is over a certain temperature for performing a control operation for a heating. A thermocouple module(30) is driven by a control of the heating control unit(20) for sucking a heat generated in the CPU. A cooling temperature control unit(40) controls a current supplied to the thermocouple module(30) by a control of the heating control unit(20) and adjusts a cooling temperature. A cooling pan(50) emits a heat generated in the thermocouple module(30) through a heating pipe to the outside by a control of the heating control unit(20). A speed control unit(60) outputs a control signal for adjusting an operation speed of the CPU by an interrupt signal(SCI) outputted from the heating control unit(20). A mode control unit(70) controls an operation mode of the CPU by a control of the speed control unit(60).
