The injection unit has an injection nozzle (1) with two injector needles (2,3) having two injecting openings (4,5), to provide different injection cross-sections. At least one injector needle has a control piston (14) limiting a pressure chamber (13), into which a pressure line (15) opens. The pressure in the pressure chamber is controlled using a valve (19), which is arranged in a balance line (17) leading out of the pressure chamber.
