PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to store also the received contents of a receiving original in a memory for a transmitting original during input of a transmission condition of the transmitting original and to automatically transmit the contents stored in the memory and to prevent an operator from being restricted in order to prevent the original from being left. SOLUTION: A control circuit 603A can select a direct transmission mode for directly inputting and transmitting the transmission condition of a transmitting original by an operator on an operation part (operation panel) 60, a memory transmission mode for reading out the transmitting original, storing picture data in a memory 502 and transmitting contents stored in the memory through a modem 603 or a receiving mode for receiving a receiving original. When the direct transmission mode is received during the input of the transmission condition of the transmitting original, the mode can be changed to the memory transmission mode so as to automatically transmit the contents stored in the memory after the end of the reception.
