PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the amounts of the deposits adhered to a magnetic head when a recording medium is made to travel by forming a guide roller to a shape approximate to a final shape, then grinding the guide roller and subjecting the guide roller to ultrasonic cleaning by an ultrasonic cleaning machine, thereby decreasing the amounts of the deposits adhered the surface. SOLUTION: The guide roller 30a of a cylindrical shape approximate to the guide roller 18c of the final shape is manufactured in a molding stage A by using a blank, such as a synthetic resin, and is subjected to centerless grinding for removing the burrs and gates on the surface of the guide roller 30a in a grinding stage B. The guide roller is made into the guide roller 30e via an ordinary washing stage C and a rinsing stage D. Next, the guide roller 30f drastically decreased in particles is obtained in an ultrasonic cleaning stage F. The cleaning time is so set that number of the particles above 1μm adhered to the surface of the guide roller (f) attains nearly <=500,000 pieces. The guide roller 18c which is a final part is hereafter obtained via an ordinary washing stage G to a drying stage L.
