The present invention relates to a method for regulating autonomic functions , such as blood pressure, and further to a method for treating pain by prolact in- releasing peptide (PrRP) or through its receptor. This peptide regulates blo od pressure and pain mechanisms, and is expressed in complementary areas with neuropeptide FF (NPFF). Specific antisera developed against the N- and/or C- terminal domains of PrRP may be used for diagnostics.
