PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart advanced quality feeling in motion to displays via a minimal structure. SOLUTION: The on-vehicle display drive mechanism uses the driving force of a motor to slide a display 20 between a storage position and a projecting position. The motor drives or rotates a rotor 18. The rotor 18 has, by way of example, at an eccentric place a projection 18a, which is engaged with a slot 21a on the display 20 so that motor rotation in one direction moves the projection 18a along the slot 21a to thus drive the display 20 in opposite directions between both positions.
