PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hold a wheelchair irrespective of its wheel size or the like, and surely fix the wheelchair to thereby prevent the wheelchair from moving and falling down even if the wheelchair undergoes excessive acceleration and deceleration. SOLUTION: This fixing apparatus is so constructed that an outer lever and an inner lever are arranged in an outer cover 3 and an inner cover 5, and an inner plate 7 rotatably connected to the respective levers and an outer plate arranged under the outer cover are arranged so as to be opposite to each other with a space into which a wheelchair 20 is entered backward. The respective levers are rotated reversely to each other by a driving mechanism, and hence the inner plate 7 and the outer plate 8 pressure-fitted to a wheel S of the wheelchair. A rear falling down preventing device 110 is attached onto the inner cover, and the stopper portion 113 abuts against a longitudinal frame of the wheelchair. Even if the wheelchair is going to roll due to the inertia of the occupant when abrupt starting, or the like with the wheel held, the wheel is supported by the stopper portion, preventing the falling down.
