A terminal device (200) for use with a video distribution system (150) includes an RF input operatively connectable to the video programming distribution system (150) for receiving a source (50) of video programming. An RF output is operatively connectable to a television receiver (250) to permit delivery of video images to the television receiver. Channel access control circuitry (204) is connected in signal receiving relation to the RF input to receive the video images and connected in signal transmitting relation to the RF output to transmit the video images thereto. A microprocessor (208) is operatively connected to the channel access control circuitry and a card reader (209) is operatively connected to the microprocessor, for reading account data from a magnetic strip card.
