PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generating method and a power generating system with high efficiency by producing hydrogen-containing gas suitable for a fuel cell, specifically for a solid polymer fuel cell from digesting gas produced by methane fermentation of an organic substance. SOLUTION: This method is composed of a methane fermentation process A for methane- fermenting an organic substance (a); a gas processing process B for reforming digesting gas produced in the methane digesting process A to produce hydrogen-containing gas; and a fuel cell power generating process C. The gas processing process B contains a gas pre- processing process 1 for removing by adsorbing and/or absorbing oxidizing gas such as hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen chloride in the digesting gas obtained in the methane fermentation process A; a reforming process 2 for reforming methane in the pre-processed gas in hydrogen and carbon monoxide by catalytic reaction with steam; a modifytng process 3 for modifying carbon monoxide in the reformed gas to hydrogen gas and carbon dioxide by the catalytic reaction with steam; a selective oxidizing process 4 for selectively oxidizing residual carbon monoxide in the modified gas by catalytic reaction with oxygen-containing gas; and a carbon dioxide water absorbing process 5 for absorbing and separating carbon dioxide in the selectively oxidized gas by the contact with water or an alkaline solution. |
