Apodization process of photoinscripted Bragg graring

A device (140) capable of creating interference fringes on the optical waveguide (120) (or fiber) is placed in front of the waveguide. The beam is scanned over the device with variable scanning velocity. The waveguide is then swept through the beam at variable speed, without placing the device on the beam path. Irradiation scanning duration is varied to effect increased total insolation in the center of the waveguide. Sweeping without the interference device is effected to reduce total insolation in the center of the waveguide.
