PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arm member which is high in the degree of freedom in setting the length, high in dimensional accuracy and inexpensive, and to provide an efficient method for manufacturing the arm member. SOLUTION: An arm member A1 is manufactured of two plate-like component pieces 100, 100. Recessed parts 101 to form fitting holes 102 to which bushings are fitted are formed by pressing or rolling on one side surface of each component piece 100. The substantially circular fitting holes 102 are formed between the recessed parts 101, 101 opposite to each other of both component pieces by laminating both component pieces 100, 100 with their single sides facing to each other. In this condition, both component pieces 100, 100 are integratedly joined with each other by the frictional agitation joining.
