PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce labor and time and to prevent an input mistake by simplifying a procedure for trim adjustment. SOLUTION: A data recording and reproducing device is provided with a data storing means for storing many kinds of base material data including video data and an operation terminal for providing a user interface to set the trim value of an optional kind of base material data which is stored in the storing means. The user interface is provided with a first control (922p, 922s or 922q) for inputting the trim value. The trim value is inputted through the use of the first control on the user interface and the procedure for trim adjustment is simplified so that labor and time are reduced and also the input mistake is prevented.
