PURPOSE: A device and method for controlling communication of air conditioner are provided to prevent collision between communication data by differently setting up levels of communication data transmitted between indoor units and an outdoor unit. CONSTITUTION: A device includes a plurality of indoor unit control devices(110,120,130) installed to a plurality of indoor units to output communication data to an outdoor unit, respectively; a communication device(140) converting communication data output by a plurality of the indoor unit control devices into voltage levels different for each of the indoor unit control devices to output; a filter device(300) detecting voltage levels of the communication data output by the communication device to determine from which indoor unit control device the communication data comes and outputting the communication data, whose voltage level is lowered to predetermined low voltage level, together with the determination signal; and an outdoor unit control device(200) receiving determination signal output by the filter device and recognizing which indoor control device the communication data input by the filter device comes from to control the corresponding indoor unit control device and communication operation.
