COMPUTER SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SAMPLING FAULT INFORMATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save the disk resources and to speed up the analytical operation by making more efficiently collectable a fault information for investigating the cause of a system fault. SOLUTION: When a system crash occurs, a stack data retrieving/sampling part 121 samples fault information not from all data in a main memory 21 but from stack data to be used for the storage of system state information by an operating system 11 and the sampled data are directly written in a dummy file in a disk device 22 without passing a file system. Since the stack data includes CPU register value, a stop code and its parameter, sufficient investigation of the cause can be executed only by the stack data in almost cases. At the time of restarting the system, the stack data stored in the dummy file are copied to a text film and an electronic mail to which the text file is attached is automatically transmitted to a person in charge of fault analysis.
