A method for controlling the radiation pattern of an antenna means (1) comprising N helically configured radiating elements (121-12N), where N is a n integer greater than 1, an antenna system, comprising N helically configured radiating elements (121-12N), and a radio communication device including suc h an antenna system. In the method, at least one property of at least one received signal from at least one of the radiating elements (121-12N) is measured, and at least one of the parameters phase (~n) and amplitude (An) f or received signals and/or signals to be transmitted for at least one of the radiating elements (121-124) is controlled as a response to the measured property of said received signal. The antenna system comprises means (47, 45 , 421-42N, 541-54N) for controlling at least one of the parameters phase (~n) and amplitude (An) for signals received and/or signals to be transmitted by at least one of the antenna elements (121-12N).
